Custom Made Wooden Crates
Here is where we get a little technical and get informative with this article about ISPM 15 Heat treated lumber and wood. We are going to be going over a little bit about the process and why it is so important. Did you know that if you ship anything internationally and do not follow strict rules and regulations your cargo could be held up for weeks and fines levied and imposed ?
The heat treatment process is designed to sanitize and kill live insects and their larvae that may lurk in wooden pallets and crates, also preventing mold growth and infestation during shipping.
All wood packaging materials such as crates, pallets, dunnages, etc. that require to be debarked and heat treated and fumigated with methyl bromide are stamped and branded.
The heat treatment certification program of the U.S. is administered by the American Lumber Standards Committee. Most shipping centers and custom wood crate builders that offer packing, crating, and shipping have accredited heat treating facilities and services meet or exceed the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures & Guidelines for the Regulating of Wood Packaging Materials in International Trade.
So if you ever see what is called the 'wheat stamp' ( it seriously looks like a piece of wheat ) you know it has been inspected, treated, and deemed safe.
